We are born into a troubled world in a troubled age. An age which is a wrestling ground for our fathers. So, the children who are born innocent of women have to make his or her mind up if they are going to follow God or Satan. When you follow he that quickens you or, the prince that is the power of evil, it's-your choice no one can make your mind up for you. You are a free citizen in this earth. It is your mind that must be made up which would you follow. And quite frankly when you allow yourself to fall upon the comforter whereby he can comfort you , he can stand between you and the problems of this world to cushion you and protect you. When you accept the Holy Spirit, the Evil Spirit will run from you. That is exactly the way it is so, the choice is yours and must freely be made by you and no one else.

The Gulf Fritillary Butterfly

Passiflora caerulea is a host plant for the Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae butterfly. The Gulf Fritillary butterfly is native to Texas and can be found fluttering about in the warm Summer sun feeding on floral nectar in your garden. The Passion flower vine is the specific host plant for the female butterfly, Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae . It can be found at plant nurseries state wide. The Passionflower has a beautiful bloom and it is quite astounding in its intricacies. Many artists have delved into its spectacular characteristics. This specific passionflower is a favorite of the Gulf Fritillary butterfly. Healthy offspring, caterpillars (larva) can be reared on this specific vine. The fertilized female Gulf Fritillary butterfly will light upon the tips of new growth or its tendrils to lay her eggs. The eggs are cylindrical in shape and are colored a soft orange. The Butterflies are back!

Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae nectaring on Eupatorium odoratum. This butterfly gardening nectar source is a butterfly magnet in the month of October. Many different species stop by to feed as they make their way south for the winter. SURPRISE!!! It is a Dyras iulia, Julia Longwing in Katy, Texas feeding on the mistflower mentioned above. A rare sight for this part of Southeast Texas . We saw this species last year and this year feeding on the same plant as well as a Heliconius charitonius, Zebra Longwing also seen last year and this year. And of course, lots of Monarchs and Queens visited in the month of November. Plant mistflower in the fall months. Once it blooms profusely and the butterflies visit it on their journey the blooms will brown and set seed. Commanders Palace

Cemetery across street from Commanders Palace 2008 Commanders Palace 2008 I spent a few years of my adolescence living on Washington Ave. in New Orleans on the same block as Commanders Palace Restaurant which was across the street from a cemetery. We used to play hide and go seek in the cemetery. I can still feel the horror as my brother would jump out of the empty grave sites and scare the living death out of us. Sometimes, I would travel to the Commanders Palace back patio entering through the open rod iron gates and the waiters busy setting the tables for the evening dinner would allow me to help them with the setting and placing the sugar bowls on the tables. The back patio was lush with tropical plantings and laden with ferns. The black iron dinner tables were covered with white linen tablecloths that cascaded to the brick covered floor.
